We’re all very proud to announce that the Vector X10, part of our newly launched line of high-end performance folding bicycles, has won a prestigious Eurobike Award at the 2010 Eurobike bicycle trade show that is being held right now in Friedrichshafen, Germany from September 1-4, 2010.  A lot of work has gone into this new line of bikes so we are very happy to see that others in the industry think highly of it as well. With a frame based upon an award-winning design, the Vector series of folding bikes represents the state of the art in folding bicycle technology and is positioned at the top of Dahon’s 2011 product line. The following is taken from a press release regarding our new Vector lineup.

Vector bikes feature a patented hydroformed frame design based on the Ios XL, which received a Gold iF Design Award at Eurobike 2009. Hydroforming allows optimization of the strength to weight ratio while imparting a more elegant and sleeker look to the bike. The combination of a patented folding hinge with the hydroformed tubing results in a frame with superb torsional stiffness.

“We never stop looking for ways to improve our products,” stated Joshua Hon, Dahon vice president. “We’re incredibly excited about the Vector line of bikes because they feature the stiffest small wheel folding frames we’ve ever developed and they are just fantastic to ride. In product design, being light and strong is a difficult challenge but we managed to nail it with the new Vector platform.”

 
Vector X20  Leading the Vector family of folding bicycles is the Vector X20, which is the successor to the top of the line Mu EX. The Vector X20 is ultra-light, weighing in at only 9.2 kg (20.2 lb), and features the 20-speed SRAM Red drivetrain, arguably one of the best drivetrains around. SRAM DoubleTap shifters provide razor sharp butter-smooth shifting and the Kinetix Pro wheel set is the lightest, strongest and most aerodynamic 20″ wheelset available.

The Vector X10’s beautifully hydroformed frame is substantially stronger and stiffer than the Mu SL frame it replaces. A new 11-36T 10 speed cassette paired with a custom 55T FSA crankset gives the Vector X10 an even wider gear range than other folding bikes with a conventional 53/39T double crankset. Rocket-fast Kinetix Pro wheels and custom Schwalbe Durano tires round out one of lightest folding bikes on the planet.

 
Vector X27h
The Vector X27h is the reincarnation of the iconic Dahon Speed Pro TT using the substantially stronger Vector frame. The Vector X27h sports a wide gear range of 29″ – 121″ using a SRAM/Shimano drive train to deliver the hill climbing gears of a mountain bike and the big ring gears of a road bike. Dahon Special Edition Schwalbe Durano tires are light and sleek for that extra edge in speedy.

A record number of patrons have placed a Preorder and we have already hinted to you that you will not regret this. After much persuasion we have been given permission to share with you a very important piece of information on price and delivery.

For all confirmed Preorders customers,  you will be getting your Vector X10 at S$2588 (RRP is S$2788). The Vector X20 Preorder will enjoy the price of S$4388 and the ( RRP will be S$4688). For the Vector X27h, Preorder customers will get to buy the recently previewed Vector X27h at S$2888 and (RRP will be S$2988). In addition, the closing date for the Preorders has been extended to 16 May 2011 where the new prices take into effect.

Dates for delivery of the X10, X20 and X27h will be on the first week of June 2011. So all customers thinking of preorders, please come down and make your minimum deposit of S$388 to guarantee your bikes. We do not have that many X20 nor X27h in stock and  additional X10s after this round will be made available last week of June 2011, so go visit our premium dealers NOW.

MBS Dahon Dealer Demo Day – The rain did not deter us!!

Today was a wet and fun day. Our registered customers and guests came by and had a chance to touch, feel and ride the 2011 Dahon Vector and Dash Series.

The rain was something that we thought would deter turnout BUT the turnout was still very good! A few of our friends got wet but they said this was the BEST way to test a bike – dry and wet!! LoL

Togoparts was here to do an exclusive coverage and Dahon exclusive distributor –  Speedmatrix were around to help explain the new bikes to the guests. But for the newbies to Dahon, here is a guide:

Dash is a new variant in the Minivelo category: Existing riders of the Tyrell FX said that the Dash is worth the consideration. Congrats to the new owners of the Vector series – Watch out for them!

Dahon Dealer Demo Day – Reloaded @ Dealers!

Triple D, Dahon Demo Days, HP Alumni, ASSAP Secretary’s week, Runway Cycle booths - that was how we first started and how some of us got to know the Dahon world of folding bikes. With a new program in place, DDDD now comes to a location near you! The additional D stands for Dealers. This tradition of demo days have been followed by many but it is something many other Dealers are adopting to bring MORE value to their customers. A good Dealer is an important aspect when considering where and what to buy in a foldable bike. Sure you can save  by buying from Internet or one man outfits BUT they have to be around when you need help. A Dealer is there when you need assistance. This year, we will carry out special DDDs at our shop and also at West Coast Park PCN so that people can get to touch, feel and appreciate the Dahon folding technology.

This Jan 29 on Saturday at 10am, we will be launching the Vector and Dash series. Come join us and get a chance to test ride these fast cats! It will give you a chance to understand WHY Dahon is the preferred folding bike brand. Send us an email to confirm your attendence. Only registered guests will get to ride the bikes. Based on Hydroforming technology, something you would have heard from our other bike brand(s) we carry and range. This technology allows manufacturers to make longer, wider frame cross sections but not increase  the weight. What this translates to is — stiffer and longer lines.
