What are the differences between tern d8 vs dahon horize? price? and why can’t i find horize on dahon.com official website? it horize a “genuine” model?

    • August 27, 2014 at 4:33 pm

The lineup for this year’s Dahon for Singapore came from Japan and they are genuine. Both the Link D8 and Horize are 8 speeds, Alu frame. They have different folding joints and ride is different. Best if you can come by to test them.

Hi, newbie here looking for a foldie. Budget around $400 for casual ride & keep fit. Any recommendations? TQ.

    • August 23, 2014 at 1:18 am

If the distances are straight with little inclines(slopes), recreational bikes with up to 7 speeds will do the work. Prices start from S$500 (Bickerton 1607 or Dahon Route)

Hi, I would like to check on the prices and models available for my selection (Budget $450 – $550 per bike x 2units) Bickerton 1607 / 1707, Tern Link C7, Dahon Route and other models too. Do you have instalment plans with any credit cards ?

    • August 19, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Bickerton 1607/1707 are arriving only next week at our stores. We have stock for Link C7 S$550 and Dahon Route S$500. Sorry we do not have instalment plan scheme. You may call your merchant bank to check if they have the service.

Hi, i have a budget of S$1,300. Which tern foldable bike would you recommend for that price? Do you have an electric scooter too? I have another budget of S$1,000 for that.

    • August 19, 2014 at 12:33 pm

It depends on what you want to achieve in your cycling and where you ride regularly before we can help recommend. We do not sell electric scooters. But from a price level, you can get a Verge P18 – S$1500 or the Verge P9 at S$1350 incl of GST

Hello, I have bought a tern p18 a month ago and loving it! Thank you alexander :)

Been riding 50km – 80km per week but recently it feels like my crank has had some damage to it (abit dent) as i dropped from 1 to 2 steps of stairs a couple of days ago and there is some weird sound when gear shifting. The gear shifting sometimes does not work as well.

Also my back brake like not that responsive after awhile. Should i bring it over for some checking?

    Dear MYBIKESHOP,

I have a Tern Link D8 from your shop. Riding it for about 1-2 months.

It has happened to me twice when the handle post would unlock by itself while riding. Luckily I was not going fast and was able to balance myself to a stop. Initially I thought it was my own mistake for not locking the handle post properly, then i noticed the locking mechanism seems to be broken (chipped off). The handle post locks in place and is quite solid, but the lock mechanism seems to be chipped off. The Tern D8 still rides like a champ but slightly worried that it might compromise future riding safety.

Should I bring it down to have it checked by you guys? It has happened twice so far and Im hopeful it will not happen again. But I will never know. Please advice and thank you for your time. :)

    • August 13, 2014 at 1:16 am

Justin, looks like the safety pin on the handlepost is broken. This happens only when you did not depress the catch before unlocking. Pls stop riding and bring it back to us asap. We will replace it first time free. Next time, we will have to charge :)

Thanks and appreciate the quick reply! I will drop by the shop at Sin Ming tmr.

        You are welcome.

Hello! I dropped by the shop this afternoon, one of your crew explained to me that it doesn’t need to be replaced as it only serves as a secondary safety mechanism. He helped me to tightened the clamp.

Also, I was looking through Tern’s website and they have a product recall. My Frame ID matched it and was advised to STOP riding the bicycle. I sent in a product recall application immediately and awaiting reply. Please advice!! I am very concerned now as I love to ride my Tern.

Justin, you have done the correct thing which is to fill out the Online form. On the Tern site, it says that even if your number starts with AI, it does not necessarily mean your bike is affected. As long as you have provided all information, please wait for Tern rep to contact you as they have to capture all information. Give them another 24 hrs to revert, will help ping them if needed.

I recently got a Tern Verge P9 from you guys and have been riding around it quite a bit on the weekends.

I notice that my chain is already rusty and the gears looks dirty. Could you advise what kinda of maintenance and care I would need to do on my own?

Should I bring it down for a basic tune up and then you could advise me accordingly?

    • August 11, 2014 at 12:27 pm

Good to hear your are using the bike. There is a need to lube the chain and if you are riding on sandy/muddy terrain or in the rain, you have to do some preventive maintenance to protect the chain, chain links and cassettes. Clean the chain with a good cleaner or degreaser, lube it after you have clean the muck and grime, and apply sufficient lube to keep the chain in optimum condition.

Thanks for the response. I am new to all these. Could you advise what cleaner/degreaser and lube to get? And where can I get these?

      • August 13, 2014 at 1:14 am

We sell Weicon – S Cleaner and Lubes. They are stocked at our outlets.

Hi, I have a Dahon MU sl with a Pantour front suspension hub. Do you carry replacement elastomers or are you able to get them?

    • August 11, 2014 at 12:21 pm

Pantour is no longer around. We have found a local elastomer, not perfect but can do the job. If you are keen, we have to order, its S$50 for set. Can you call us to arrange for a day to look at it? Might be better if you change the front wheel to non Pantour suspension.
