About Us

MBS or better known as My Bike Shop was formerly known as Speedmatrix Depot since Dec 2005 when it first open doors. Armed with only 3 models then, it started as a Dahon exclusive retail shop selling only Dahon folding bikes. K2 inline skates and cycling accessories were also available then. Formative in her years as a folding bike specialist, it had a motto of “we turn no one away” so it served folks who bought folding bikes worth thousands of dollars to a simple inner tube change of  a few dollars. The staff at this shop would serve you the same and in the smiley warm SpeedmatrixDepot customer service culture.

As more and more folding bike brands became available, Speedmatrix Depot was renamed My Bike Shop and it started doing other quality brands of folding bikes and the shop business was spun off to private individuals and no longer was a Speedmatrix majority owned outfit. Today, it focuses still on being THE recognized folding bike brand retailer ( it boasts a thoroughbred stable of brands; Dahon, Airnimal, Flamingo, Moulton,  Bike Friday, Lamborghini, Schwalbe, Rido, SQ Lab, PZ racing, etc) and even has extended its range to include castor boards Streetsurfing, I-Fit Compression wear and X-Liquid UV apparel and folding kayaks – Folbot. The customer friendly atmosphere remains the same and the staff continues to be friendly, knowledgeable and take effort to help you get into a cycling lifestyle as safe and as informed as you can. Right now, this obsession in helping her clients keep safe now extends their product to include UV protective and compression wear. So you can say, you come to MBS for your active gear needs yet achieving mobility in your lifestyle!

There is a lot of talk of more MBS being opened throughout Singapore and we believe that this responsible retailer will do well as Singaporeans get more active through cycling, street surfing and kayaking. Come talk to us if you are keen to be part of the franchise.

  2. hi MBS, I just found out your website today and saw many nice and expensive foldable bike :D I am new to foldable bike, I am thinking of one but my concern are budget and bike, cheap one I can get in Carrefour but what is the main different between below $100 and above $200 (less than $300)? Is it cheaper more heavy? Is it cheaper not lasting (after cycle for 1 , 2 years)? Thank you for your time.

    • Aiyoh…we have decent folding bikes that start at S$255, we defintely have a bike that will suit your needs. But just on your question (asked quite a number of times liao). Not all foldable bikes are the same. Inspect and study the folding mechanisms on Handlepost, center frame, seat post etc very carefully. Sometimes they mix and match from licensed technology and their own and pass off as DLT.

Buy foldable bike brands that offer at least 24 mths warranty on frame and folding parts. Make sure they have locking mechanisms to ensure they do not fold up accidentally. Ask if there are any potentially rusting parts or components that are almost impossible to tune.

Last but not least “there are no free lunches” “一分钱一分货” “caveat emptor – buyer beware” you just cannot expect a S$100 folding bike to be at the same level of ride and build as a S$600 folding bike.

  3. Hi. I happened to come across this website for foldable bicycle when I do a search after reading Zaobao article.

Just wondering for a budget about $500-$700, which foldable bicycle will you recommend for learning? Maybe you could help to highlight some features for bicycles of different brands. Thanks a lot! :)

Appreciate any suggestions u may have for me. Thks.
Btw, any trade-in for 2 full size Mtb?

    • Dear Chun Yong,

The prices for our Boardwalk D7(Out of stock) and Speed D7(Being re-stocked soon) are all fixed and strictly adhered to by all Dealers. The Eco C7 is very much the same case AND both models are in high demand. We have a Bellelli detachable child seat but we need you to come down and understand how we fix it and discuss about the most appropriate model of the child seat for you as we have different sizes. Come down and visit us, (we do not bite LoL) but best time is when we recieve the limited Speed D7 stock that has been on back order. Please call us at 67757133

  7. Hi, I’m looking at Dahon Eco C6 and chanced upon the incoming Tern Link C7. Both are comparable in pricing ($475 vs $499). May I ask about the difference between the two? I understand that there is some legal issues regarding Tern and Dahon so will Tern arrive in S’pore soon?

      • Thanks :)
May I know when will the Tern bikes arrive in MBS, in particular the Link C7? I’m deciding between Dahon Eco C6 and Tern Link C7 (both entry bikes I believe) so really would like to test them out before making a purchase.
        Thanks in advance.

      • Kenny, – Thanks, yes on Saturdays, we do get very busy but weekdays have lesser crowds and so customers get more time to move around and chat. Not sure which bike you referring to but we plan to range the bikes from DNA provided they are brought in. We open daily noon to 8pm EXCEPT Sundays and Public holidays.
